History of the The Milner York
The history of The Milner York began with the introduction of the railroad in 1853 as the hotel for York train station. Originally opened as the Station Hotel, it changed hands as the railways began to expand. After Queen Victoria graced the hotel with her presence, the hotel owners quickly added “Royal” to the hotel’s name. The Milner York opened in 1878 under the name of the Royal Station Hotel with three beautiful entrances and exquisite ironwork throughout. Its beautiful architecture was unrivalled. The owners had intentions of being able to accommodate the wealthiest of guests and showcased the hotel as one of sophistication and style.
With rooms like the Garden Room and the Oak Room, the hotel offers some of the most beautiful locations for you to host your amazing day. Every room in the hotel has historical ties to the past. From Queen Victoria’s stay to horse jockeys using the 100-yard corridor as an area to run for exercise, the hotel is rich with stories and wonderful memories.
Weddings and Events at The Milner York
One of the most luxurious wedding venues in York, The Milner York offers the best of everything you can imagine. A wedding planner is available to assist you in whatever you may need. The hotel also offers catering so that you can invite your guests to the wedding breakfast as well as the ceremony. The hotel can accommodate 200 guests. The Oak Room has a capacity of 160 guests. If you prefer, you can choose to have a much smaller, more intimate ceremony.
