History of Dunedin Country House

Built around 1831, Dunedin Country House combines the late Georgian style with a hint of Victorian influence. Previously known as the Terrace House, a grain merchant travelled the world and fell in love with the Scottish settlement of Dunedin, in New Zealand. Already the owner of Terrace House, upon his return, he renamed it Dunedin and, further inspired by his travels, installed an Italian-style balcony you can see today.

In 2012, Helen and Simon St Quinton purchased the property and spent two years carefully restoring, renovating, and extending the house, often using reclaimed materials from the building itself. The couple ensured individualism and quality were the priority in the rebuild and ultimately turned it into the thriving venue that it is today.

Known as ‘the undiscovered jewel of Holderness’, this venue offers you the very best, luxury wedding venue experience. Exclusively yours for the day, create your own magical experience with friends and loved ones. For your convivence, the Country House also owns a spa nearby so you can indulge in a little ‘you’ time for the wedding begins – and they can do your make-up and perfect your hair for the day ahead. If you’d like, you can arrive straight from a local church nearby for further celebrations.

Alternatively, it’s possible to hold your civil ceremony within Dunedin itself. The Drawing Room, which overlooks the manicured gardens, accommodates up to 25 guests for a sit-down meal or up to 50 for a buffet. As such, it’s perfect for a smaller, more intimate event. Meanwhile, The Billiard Room accommodates up to 80 guests for a sit-down meal or up to 130 for a buffet. It also looks out over the terraced section of the garden and has its own access through two French doors. Speaking of the garden, it’s also possible to sip Pimms or mulled wine (depending on the time of year) and say ‘I do’ in the fresh air.

When it comes to partying the night away, The Old Dining Room is a stunning room, bursting with history and featuring a roaring open fire. It’s also home to the main bar where you can tailor your tipples for an even more bespoke event!

Should the evening go on late, invite guests to stay over at Dunedin. Each of its 11 bedrooms is individually decorated with a combination of antique furnishings, quality textiles, and magnificent fabrics to create an aura of timeless elegance and comfort.

As a homely, beautiful country house, surrounded by mature, terraced, landscaped gardens, Dunedin is full of photographic opportunities. The main dining room, for example, features white-panelled walls, large mirrors, chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling windows to allow natural light to flood through. It’s the perfect setting to capture photos of the important wedding speeches. Alternatively, in the garden, there are several different points of interest to be photographed under – from ornate arches to unique brickwork. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the amount you should spend on a wedding photographer will vary depending on your couple’s specific needs and preferences. However, a reasonable estimate for wedding photography costs in the UK would range from £1,000 to £2,500. This amount may change depending on the location, type of photography ( posed or candid ), and number of photos that are taken. It is also important to remember that these are just estimates – costs may actually be higher or lower depending on your specific needs and circumstances. It is a good idea to chat with a wedding photographer before making any final decisions about budgeting. Let me know if you have any questions.

Seven hours of coverage is generally not enough to document a full wedding day in North Yorkshire. Most wedding ceremonies are 1 pm or 2 pm which means the wedding photographer would start bridal preparations around 11am. If the cutting of the cake and first dance is 8pm, then you would need 10 hours of coverage for the day.

Hiring a wedding photographer is a worthwhile investment with 87% of UK couples choosing to hire a professional. It’s an ideal way to preserve memories of one of the most important days of their lives. You’ll get high-quality images that capture a wedding day’s special moments, emotions, and details. Take a look at my wedding portfolio to see images from previous weddings.

I know that you’re going to be really eager to get your photos back. Not to worry, I expedite the process to get the photos to you. It takes a little bit of time to sort through the photos and get rid of pictures where people are blinking that you don’t want to see. Additionally, I fully edit each picture to ensure my style remains consistent. With that being said, you can expect to see your photos within 3 to 4 weeks of your wedding but it can usually be faster than that.

Remember, you can’t rush perfection!
