History of Saltmarshe Hall
The Saltmarshe family first owned the Saltmarshe estate in 1066, following the Norman Conquest. The present house you can see today, however, was built for Philip Saltmarshe by Prichett and Watson from 1825 to 1828. In the early 1970s, dying without an heir, Captain Philip Saltmarshe was the latest of the Saltmarshe family to live in the house and as such, it was sold to Philip and Sally Bean. In 2009, the house went up for sale again and is today owned by the Whyte family.
