Little Wold Vineyard Wedding Photographer
When it comes to choosing the perfect wedding venue, Little Wold Vineyard in East Yorkshire stands out as a hidden gem that offers breathtaking views, rustic charm, and an unparalleled atmosphere for couples looking to say “I do.” As a Little Wold wedding photographer, having the privilege of capturing such a special day at this venue is nothing short of magical. The natural beauty, coupled with the vineyard’s cosy, intimate vibe, creates an unforgettable experience for couples, guests, and—of course—photographers like myself.
One of the main reasons Little Wold Vineyard is so photogenic is its stunning location. Nestled amidst the rolling hills of East Yorkshire, the vineyard offers expansive views that change with every season. Whether you’re working with the lush greens of summer or the warm golden hues of autumn, the backdrop here is a photographer’s paradise. The sweeping vines create a romantic, rustic ambiance, with rows of grapes adding texture and depth to every shot.
The venue itself has a modern yet rustic charm that lends itself perfectly to capturing timeless wedding portraits. The barn-like structure exudes warmth and character, with large windows that invite in natural light, offering an indoor setting that feels as fresh and airy as the outdoors. The rustic details—exposed beams, vintage furniture, and charming décor—complement the natural surroundings, creating an inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for unforgettable photos.

History of Little Wold Vineyard
Little Wold Vineyard, situated in the Yorkshire Wolds, was established in 2012 by the Wilson family as a diversification of their farm business. They began by planting 2,000 vines, followed by an additional 1,000 two years later. In the initial years, all growth, including grapes, was removed to develop the rootstock and encourage the vines to absorb the chalky minerals of the terroir. A small harvest was taken in 2014, with the grapes blended with those from Rydale Vineyard in Malton.
In 2018, the vineyard expanded by planting 6,000 more vines, including varieties like Phoenix, Solaris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. The 2018 harvest yielded 12.5 tonnes of grapes, doubling the previous year’s yield. That year also saw the construction of a new tasting room.
Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the vineyard adapted by introducing socially distanced picnics and virtual events. They also began producing their own wine, managing the entire process from grape growing to fermentation. In 2022, the Wilson family was shortlisted for four awards, winning ‘Best Agri Business’ in the Family Business Awards.
Today, Little Wold Vineyard boasts over 30,000 vines across five white grape varieties and two red, producing a range of award-winning still and sparkling English wines.

Weddings at Little Wold Vineyard
As an East Yorkshire Wedding Photographer, I love capturing photos in the right lighting and sometimes that can make all the difference. At Little Wold Vineyard, it is so open and with great views and this offers some of the best natural light. The sunrises and sunsets here are nothing short of spectacular, providing those soft golden hours when the light is just right for capturing stunning portraits. The vineyard’s wide open spaces allow couples to be photographed in beautiful, soft lighting that highlights the romance of the moment.
For couples who choose to get married outdoors, there is an abundance of natural light to work with, creating breathtaking images that feel intimate and candid. The vineyard’s rolling hills, combined with its rows of grapevines, create a dreamy, ethereal environment that truly enhances wedding photos. And on cloudy or overcast days? The soft, diffused light creates an even more flattering effect, perfect for capturing those perfect candid moments during the ceremony or reception.
One of my favourite parts of working at Little Wold Vineyard is discovering new spots for photos. There are so many diverse and picturesque locations around the venue that offer an array of backgrounds for couples. From the gently sloping vineyard rows to the intimate, secluded nooks, there are plenty of places to capture beautiful, meaningful shots that showcase both the couple and their surroundings.
The views over the Yorkshire hills make for some of the most breathtaking bridal portraits, with the open landscape stretching out in the background. The outdoor ceremony area, with its rustic wooden archway and rows of carefully arranged chairs, provides another stunning photo opportunity. It’s simple yet elegant, and the setting feels like something out of a fairytale.
For couples who prefer indoor shots, the barn’s high ceilings and rustic décor make for some striking images. The barn’s open-plan space allows for sweeping wide-angle shots, and the intimate setting offers plenty of opportunities for close-up moments that capture emotion and detail. The candlelit ambience during the evening adds another layer of charm, providing a warm, intimate atmosphere perfect for romantic shots during the reception.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the amount you should spend on a wedding photographer will vary depending on your couple’s specific needs and preferences. However, a reasonable estimate for wedding photography costs in the UK would range from £1,000 to £2,500. This amount may change depending on the location, type of photography ( posed or candid ), and number of photos that are taken. It is also important to remember that these are just estimates – costs may actually be higher or lower depending on your specific needs and circumstances. It is a good idea to chat with a wedding photographer before making any final decisions about budgeting. Let me know if you have any questions.
Seven hours of coverage is generally not enough to document a full wedding day in North Yorkshire. Most wedding ceremonies are 1 pm or 2 pm which means the wedding photographer would start bridal preparations around 11am. If the cutting of the cake and first dance is 8pm, then you would need 10 hours of coverage for the day.
Hiring a wedding photographer is a worthwhile investment with 87% of UK couples choosing to hire a professional. It’s an ideal way to preserve memories of one of the most important days of their lives. You’ll get high-quality images that capture a wedding day’s special moments, emotions, and details. Take a look at my wedding portfolio to see images from previous weddings.
I know that you’re going to be really eager to get your photos back. Not to worry, I expedite the process to get the photos to you. It takes a little bit of time to sort through the photos and get rid of pictures where people are blinking that you don’t want to see. Additionally, I fully edit each picture to ensure my style remains consistent. With that being said, you can expect to see your photos within 3 to 4 weeks of your wedding but it can usually be faster than that.
Remember, you can’t rush perfection!
